Why Sing?
Did you know that singing has beneficial effects on heart rates, moods,
emotional states and helps to aid relaxation!

Singing Can:

  • Improve breath control, physical stamina and posture.

  • Encourage social skills and team building, when done in groups.

  • Improve asthma and other breathing and respiratory problems
  • Voice Coaching/Singing Lessons

We offer voice coaching for all ages, from school children to pensioners.

We cover all styles from rock to classical, pop to country, recording techniques, live performance, musical theatre and more!

We teach professional performers, karaoke kings, actors and public speakers, amateur performers and some people learn just for fun!

We offer private solo lessons and from small groups to choirs.

    'VIBE' !!

Formerly known as the South Holland Centre CONTEMPORARY YOUTH CHOIR this open access, non audition community youth choir was started last September, by vocal coach Liz Lenten and The South Holland Centre.
Having secured as their patron BBC’s Suzy Digby (OBE) and received endorsements from the wonderful Howard Goodall 'Anything Liz Lenten does has a dusting of magic about it and I am thrilled she is leading the creation of this new community choir for young people in Lincolnshire. All I can say is to anyone who is thinking 'shall I, shan't I, maybe, maybe not?', just GO GO GO!) and TV’s Gareth Malone ‘You might think singing in a choir would be boring... You'd be WRONG! Singing is a wonderful way to meet new people.. .. You can make friends whilst enjoying a great activity that's both fun and challenging – best of luck!’
VIBE have received funding support from soundLINCS, the Lincolnshire Co-op and the Lincolnshire Music Service, and launched into their first performance, just 8 weeks after they started, by singing at the ‘Turning on the Christmas Lights’ in Spalding Town Centre in December 2009.
Since then they have performed in the South Holland Centre auditorium, and most recently at Oxford Castle. The young people help to choose the songs that they sing, and recently performed with THE LONDON MOZART PLAYERS, together with Sing South Holland at The Spalding International Food and Music Festival– a wonderful end to their first year together.
The group meet once a week in term time, on THURSDAYS FROM 5.30 – 6.45pm, and sing a contemporary repertoire from composers as diverse as Howard Goodall, Snow Patrol & The Beatles as well as traditional folk songs from around the world. There is no audition and anyone aged between 8 and 18 years is welcome to join. For full details see workshop section below.

    SING SOUTH HOLLAND

In July 2009 Liz Lenten completed a ‘SING UP’ community singing project ( VOCAL FORCE SOUTH HOLLAND – SEE BELOW) involving regular singing workshops, hosted at the beautiful setting of Ayscoughfee Hall Museum, for members of the community, both long standing residents and new arrivals from all parts of the world, including many members of new arrival communities from Eastern Europe.
In the workshops Liz lead the group in sharing their favourite songs of their childhood, with participants leading the song, teaching the rest of the group, and sharing not only their musical heritage, but many cultural and international customs and ideas.
During the project, the confidence of the participants grew, not only in singing and leading singing, but in using different languages, and socialising with people from different backgrounds and cultures and many new friendships were formed.
The project became much more than a singing project – it became a wonderful exercise in community cohesion – so much so that not only was it nominated for an ‘Inspiration award for best special project’ in the Lincolnshire Heritage Renaissance Awards, but once the project ended South Holland District Council allocated government grant funding for the workshops to start up again and SING SOUTH HOLLAND was born!
This open access, non audition, adult singing group have been meeting once a month since the beginning of the year and enjoying informal singing workshops, led by Liz Lenten.
Every session the numbers increase, and new people come along to join in the sessions, many saying they hadn’t sung since childhood! In July 2010 the group took part in a fantastic first EVER public performance singing with the LONDON MOZART PLAYERS ORCHESTRA!
Everyone who would like to sing is welcome to join us – and it’s completely FREE!!! Workshops will continue throughout 2010 – see workshop section below for details of next session.

    Vocal Force SOUTH HOLLAND

We have just completed an exciting and fun community singing project to develop healthy singing and vocal leadership in South Holland working with the Migrant Community and Local Residents, sharing music from all of our childhoods.
The Project ran until July 2009 and was led by experienced vocal coach and animateur Liz Lenten of Scarlet Music.
A series of free open workshops were held at Ayscoughfee Hall Museum, Spalding (for ages 18+) every three to four weeks, as well as some weekend afternoon workshops for all the family.
We had over 70 participants over the last 18 months and hope that the project has given local people, of all nationalities, the confidence and skills to lead singing amongst their friends, families and groups in the community, and to encourage children of all ages to sing.
Along with Ayscoughfee Hall Museum this project was nominated for the ‘Lincolnshire Renaissance heritage INSPIRATION award’ – a fantastic honour!
For current adult community workshop sessions see Sing South Holland.
